El siguiente texto fue escaneado de una Biblia en Español que obtuve de una colección privada en León, Guanajuato, México en 1986. Esta copia, impresa en Madrid, España en 1884 para la Sociedad Bíblica Británica y Extranjera (SBBE), representa la edición SBBE de la revisión de Valera hecha para la Sociedad para la Propagación de Conocimiento Cristiano (SPCC) en 1862. Esta revisión fue hecha por Lorenzo Lucena Pedrosa M.A., profesor de Lengua y Literatura Española en Queens College de Liverpool, y luego en Oxford.
Esta edición de la SPCC 1862 fue publicada por la SBBE en 1884. Siendo que no tenemos ninguna otra edición de la 1862, no podemos asegurar que este texto es precisamente idéntico a la original SPCC 1862. Algunas diferencias nos hacen sospechar que la SBBE revisó ligeramente la SPCC 1862 en esta impresión de 1884. Sin embargo, reproducimos esta edición de SBBE para demostrar que la Revisión de Valera de 1862 era esencialmente idéntica a la Valera 1909 de hoy. Esto confirma que la Valera 1909 en realidad fue una revisión hecha en 1862, antes de la publicación de Vaticanus o Sinaíticus, y décadas antes de la apostasía Inglesa de Westcott y Hort.
Una diferencia que sí verás en esta impresión de la 1862, hecha por SBBE en 1884, es que introduce muchas palabras itálicas que no se encuentran ni en la original 1602, ni tampoco en su descendiente, la 1909. O estas itálicas fueron añadidas por la SBBE en su revisión ligera de la revisión de 1862 de SPCC, o la revisión de 1909 quitó del texto la mayoría de las itálicas añadidas innecesariamente. Aparte de esto, muy pocos cambios se evidencian en la revisión de 1909 de este texto.
Todas las copias impresas que hemos escaneado y duplicado contienen errores de impresión y puntuación. Algunos son obvios, pero de vez en cuando había varias posibilidades en la corrección. En tales casos determinamos la corrección según la original 1602, o la norma actual, la 1909. En todos los casos que hicimos correcciones señalamos la palabra alterada con el circunflejo (^). Además señalamos con la misma marca aquellos lugares donde parecía haber error, pero por no estar seguros, no cambiamos nada.
