Obvious punctuation errors have been repaired.
Archaic and inconsistent spelling and hyphenation have been preserved.
The question mark “(?)” on page 14 is in the original. (The slang in wich some modern ladies(?) indulge would have sounded....)
“Lizzy” and “Lizzie” occur once in this text. This has been preserved.
On page 109 “Emma” has been changed to “Emmie”. (Emmie was trembling....)
