With No. 6 needles, cast on 50 sts, work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 3 inches. Change to No. 9 needles and work in pattern same as scarf for 12 rows; then continue in pattern, dec 1 st each side every 6th row 6 times. NEXT ROW: K 2 tog, K 1, repeat from beg across row. NEXT ROW: K 2 tog across row. Sl these sts to a st holder. Work another section in same manner. Draw all sts of both sections tog, fasten securely. Sew seams.
