THE SHEEP CORRAL
My father and my uncle
made a sheep corral
while they were waiting
for the sheep and for us
to come up the trail.
They made the sheep corral
of branches,
a circle of branches,
a circle of dark colored boughs.
The sheep stay safe
in their corral tonight
and I sleep
beneath the cottonwood shade.
