——’s death was a shock. Still, since Achilles’ κάτθανε καί Πάτροκλος ὄ περ σέο πολλὸυ ἀμείνων[6], which should be read at the grave of every corpse in addition to the burial service, no saner and splendider comment on death has been made, especially, as here, where it seemed a cruel waste.
