Most forest-trees are now leafless.

Fruits of hawthorn, rose, holly, mistletoe, etc., are ripe.

Corn.—Wheat-sowing continued.

Mammals.—Bats hibernate ([p. 257]).

Birds.—Larks patrol fields in flocks ([p. 318]).

Insects.—Pupae may be found.
