Harrods’ Insurance Department occupies a unique position in the Insurance world, acting as Agents for all the principal Insurance Companies, and being represented at Lloyd’s by an expert Manager. Every class of Insurance is undertaken, and information, expert advice, and quotations freely tendered to Clients. Harrods have no preferential arrangement with any Insurance Companies or Underwriters, but advise their Clients purely on the merits of the various offices, thus obtaining always the best possible terms consistent with perfect security. (Situated on Second Floor, take Lift in Carpet Dept.)

ACCIDENTS AND ALL SICKNESS.

From whatever causes insured against at the lowest rates, weekly compensation payable for 52 weeks in cases of Temporary, Partial, or Total Disablement through Accident, and Annuities for Permanent Total Disablement. Premiums payable annually, half-yearly or quarterly.

ANNUITIES.

Deferred, Survivorship, and Immediate Annuities—two lives—arranged with or without Return of Purchase Money.

ALL RISKS.

Harrods’ special policy covering Jewellery, Laces, Furs and Valuables against all risks, including Fire, Lightning, Burglary, Larceny, Loss and Accidental Breakage—an entirely new undertaking—a simple, comprehensive, and inexpensive mode of insurance.

BURGLARY, HOUSEBREAKING, Etc.

Insurances effected to include Larceny, Collusion, and damage done by Burglars, which may also be combined with the ordinary Fire risk. Valuables such as Jewellery, Furs, Plate, Laces, etc., insured under most simple policies at greatly reduced rates, risk of theft from the person covered. Policies are now issued by the Department direct to Customers, thus saving much delay.

Valuables are also insured against All Risks as stated above.

CARRIAGES, CYCLES, Etc.

Insured against accidental damage by collision or otherwise, or by injury caused to property or to the public. Rates recently reduced.

CHILDREN.

Policies are now issued providing for Educational Expenses, benefits receivable at ages 14, 16, 18, 21 or intermediately.

FIDELITY GUARANTEES.

Individual, Collective, and Floating Policies as security for the fidelity of Clerks, Officials, and others in positions of trust. Rates now very considerably reduced.

FIRE

Applications for Insurances on every description of Property are invited. Special quotations obtained from Tariff and non-Tariff Insurance Companies, and from leading Lloyd’s Underwriters. Explosions of Gas and Domestic Boilers and loss or damage caused by Lightning included. Rent insured at the same rate of premium as for the building. Policies are now issued by the Department direct to Customers, thus saving much delay.

Valuations for Insurance and the issue of Indisputable Policies prepared.

GAS, OIL, STEAM ENGINES AND BOILERS.

Insurance of Boilers, Economisers, Steam Pipes, and any vessel subject to Steam pressure for amounts varying from £100 to £20,000. Engines insured against break-downs for amounts from £100 to £2,000 each, including periodical Inspection and Indication.

Advice as to Economic Alterations in the working arrangements of Boilers and Engines and Tests of their Efficiency.

ENDOWMENTS.

Policies arranged providing cash payments at ages 50-55 or 60, or any other ages, at lowest rates with first-class Companies.

HAIL STORM.

Conservatories and other Horticultural Buildings, Agricultural Produce and Seeds covered against damage by Hail-storm.

HORSES AND CATTLE.

Horses and Cattle insured against death from Accident or Disease or depreciation in value. Stallions, Mares, Bulls, Cows, Sheep, and Pigs insured on advantageous terms.

CARRIAGES AND HORSES.

Policies issued covering damage done by Assured’s own Vehicles to Third Persons or to their Property; also damage to Assured’s own Vehicles caused by Street or Road Accidents; and also covering the Assured’s own Horses against Accidental Fatal Injury sustained in an Accident on Road or Street (not limited to collision with Vehicles not belonging to Assured).

INCOME.

Various plans can be recommended by which a sum payable during incapacity through any kind of Sickness or Accident can be assured. The principal features of the Policies are that they cover every form of Sickness and Accident.

LOSS OF PROFITS BY FIRE.

Policies of this nature are arranged on lowest terms, and afford invaluable protection to Business Firms whose earning power would be seriously crippled by a Fire. Full indemnity at moderate rates.

Information upon all risks, and a copy of the Brochure recently issued by the Company dealing with Insurance matters generally, promptly furnished upon application to the Insurance Manager.

LIFTS.

Insurances may be effected under the following clauses:

(A) An undertaking to inspect quarterly and advise and report on the Lift Gearing Ropes, Hydraulic and Mechanical Equipment generally.

(B) To make good break-downs.

(C) To inspect quarterly and advise and report on the Electric Motor and Electrical Equipment generally.

(D) To make good break-down of Electric Motor whether due to mechanical or electrical causes.

(E) To indemnify the Insured against claims for Personal Injury received by any person or persons in or while entering upon or alighting from the Lift.

LEASEHOLD
REDEMPTION
POLICIES.

For the replacement of Capital invested in the purchase of Leasehold Property and in the improvement of Buildings or other Property held for a limited number of years.
To provide a sum to cover dilapidations at the termination of Leases and to cover the cost of replacing Plant and Machinery used in industrial and other undertakings.
To establish a Sinking Fund in connection with Terminable Annuities, Bonds, and other Securities.
To provide for the repayment of Loans, for the replacement of Capital generally, and for the payment of a stipulated sum of money at a fixed date.

MARINE.

Passengers’ Luggage and effects insured against all risks.
Merchants and Shippers are offered specially reduced rates; special contracts can be arranged offering Merchants and others rates to insure shipments to any part of the world. On all risks terms.

MOTOR CARS
AND CYCLES

SPECIAL COMPREHENSIVE POLICIES. IMPORTANT ADVANTAGES AND FEATURES.

The New Motor Car and Motor Cycle Policies cover:—

1. ALL DAMAGE OR LOSS
From any cause with any driver including Malicious Damage, Fire, Explosion, Self Ignition, Lightning, Burglary, Theft and Wilful Damage covering Car Accessories and Spare Parts, Lamps and Tyres, even when damaged, burst or stolen apart from the car.

2. CLAIMS BY THE PUBLIC.
All claims made by Third Parties for which the Insured or any driver may become legally liable, including law costs.

3. CONTINENTAL USAGE
Rates recently reduced. Full particulars of the R. A. C. or A. A. and M. U. Special policies can be obtained at the Insurance Department.

Insurances arranged to cover Accidents to the Public caused by falling of Chimney Pots, Slates, and Spoutings, Ceilings and Floors giving way, Faulty Stairways, Railways, Pavements, etc., Defective Floors.

PLATE GLASS.

Glass of every description, Plain, Silvered, and Ornamental, fixed or movable, insured against Breakage.

WORKMEN’s
COMPENSATION.

Insurance against Liability under Workmen’s Compensation and Employers’ Liability Acts effected at the lowest possible rates.

SERVANTS.

Policies obtained providing Extended Benefits of Compensation at moderate rates

DOGS.

Dogs are insured against the risk of Death from Accident and Disease at low rates.

CHEMISTS, DRUGGISTS AND OPTICIANS.

Special policies arranged covering Errors in Dispensing or Sale of Drugs, or Errors in Sight Testing.
