Dead [1809]. Admiral Lord Gardner. He commanded the Duke, 98, in Rodney’s action at the taking of the Count de Grasse, April 12, 1782, where he greatly distinguished himself. He had his flag on board the Queen in Lord Howe’s action, June 1, 1794.—[D.N.B.]
