6 Ἐγένετο[1] ἄνϑρωπος[2] ἀπεσταλμένος[3] παρὰ[4] θεοῦ,[5] ὄνομα[6] There was a man sent from God, the name
7 αὐτῷ[7] Ἰωάννης·[8] οὗτος[9] ἠλϑεν[10] εἰς[11] μαρτυρίαν,[12] ἵνα[13] to him was John: this one came for testimony that
μαρτυρήσῃ[14] περὶ[15] τοῦ[16] Φωτός,[17] ἵνα[13] πάντες[18] he might testify concerning the Light, that all
8 πιστεύσωσι[19] δἰ[20] αὐτοῦ.[21] Οὐκ[22] ἦν[23] ἐκεῖνος[24] τὸ[25] Φῶς,[26] might believe through him. Not was that one the Light,
9 ἀλλ'[27] ἵνα[13] μαρτυρήσῃ[14] περὶ[15] τοῦ[16] Φωτός.[17] Ἠν[23] but that he might testify concerning the Light. There was
τὸ[25] Φῶς[26] τὸ[25] ἀληϑινόν,[28] ὃ[29] φωτίζει[30] πάντα[31] ἄνϑρωπον,[32] the Light the true one, which lights every man,
10 ἐρχόμενον[33] εἰς[11] τὸν[34] κόσμον.[35] Ἐν[36] τῷ[37] κόσμῳ[38] ἦv,[23] coming into the world. In the world he was,
καὶ[39] ὁ[40] κόσμος[41] δἰ[20] αὐτοῦ[21] ἐγένετο,[1] καὶ[39] ὁ[40] κόσμος[41] and the world through him was made, and the world
11 αὐτὸν[42] οὐκ[22] ἔγνω.[43] Εἰς[11] τὰ[44] ἴδια[45] ἧλϑε,[10] καὶ[39] οἱ[46] him not knew. To the own things he came, and the
ἴδιοι[47] αὐτὸν[42] οὐ[22] παρέλαβαν.[48] own persons him not received.
