Ye old-time stave that pealeth out
To Christmas revellers all,
At tavern-tap and wassail-bout,
And in ye banquet-hall.—
Whiles ye old burden rings again,
Add yet ye verse, as due:
“God bless you, merry gentlemen”—
And gentlewomen, too!
