Who was the tenth apostle?
Mark: Thaddeus ([iii, 18]).
Matthew: “Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus” ([x, 3]).
In the earlier manuscripts of Matthew, the words, “whose surname was Thaddeus,” are not to be found. Subsequent transcribers added them to reconcile his Gospel with Mark.
