466. S. M. Herbert.

Doing all to the Glory of God.

1Teach me, my God and King,

In all things thee to see;

And what I do in anything,

To do it as for thee!

2To scorn the senses' sway,

While still to thee I tend;

In all I do be thou the way,--

In all be thou the end.

3All may of thee partake:

Nothing so small can be,

But draws, when acted for thy sake,

Greatness and worth from thee.

4If done beneath thy laws,

Even servile labors shine;

Hallowed is toil, if this the cause,

The meanest work divine.

God the Pilgrim's Guide and Strength.

1Guide me, O thou great Jehovah,

Pilgrim through this mortal land:

I am weak, but thou art mighty;

Hold me with thy powerful hand:

Bread of heaven,

Feed me till I want no more.

2Open now the crystal fountain,

Whence the healing streams do flow;

Let the fiery, cloudy pillar

Lead me all my journey through:

Strong Deliverer,

Be thou still my strength and shield.

3When I tread the verge of Jordan,

Bid my anxious fears subside;

Bear me through the swelling current;

Land me safe on Canaan's side:

Songs of praises

I will ever give to thee.
