640. C. M. Watts.

Salvation.

1Salvation! O, the joyful sound!

'Tis pleasure to our ears,

A sovereign balm for every wound,

A cordial for our fears.

2Buried in sorrow and in sin,

At death's dark door we lay;

But we arise, by grace divine,

To see a heavenly day.

3Salvation! let the echo fly

The spacious earth around,

While all the armies of the sky

Conspire to raise the sound.

Praise from Earth and Heaven.

1Praise the Lord! ye heavens adore him;

Praise him, angels in the height;

Sun and moon rejoice before him;

Praise him, all ye stars of light!

Praise the Lord, for he hath spoken;

Worlds his mighty voice obeyed;

Laws which never can be broken,

For their guidance he hath made.

2Praise the Lord! for he is glorious,

Never shall his promise fail;

God hath made his saints victorious,

Sin and death shall not prevail:

Praise the God of our salvation,

Hosts on high his power proclaim;

Heaven and earth, and all creation,

Praise and magnify his name!
