Uniform.—Scarlet with Greyish-white facings (1688-1790); Scarlet and White facings (from 1790).

Regimental Badge.—"The Royal Tiger within a Wreath," superscribed "Hindoostan" (for services in India from 1804-23).

Nicknames.—(1) "The Bengal Tigers" (from its badge); (2) "The Lily-whites" (from its facings).

Notes.—Mainly raised near London: twelve regiments in all were formed in 1688, but this and The 16th (The Bedfordshire) are alone in commission now.
