Tomato Soup
- 1 can tomatoes, or
- 1 qt. raw tomatoes
- 1 pt. water
- 12 peppercorns
- 1 small bay leaf
- 4 cloves
- 1 slice onion
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1⁄8 teaspoon soda
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
Cook the first six ingredients together in a cooker for one hour or more. Strain, add the salt and soda, and bind it. If it is not to be served at once it may stand in the cooker, to keep hot, for an indefinite period.
Serves six or seven persons.
