Complete subject	—	Simple subject and modifiers.

Adjective	{	Word—Wealthy men rule.
		Phrase—Men of wealth rule.
		Clause—Men who are wealthy rule.
Possessive	—	The man's energy was great.
Appositive	{	Word—The poet, Lowell, was the author.
Appositive	{	Clause—The fact, that you came, pleases me.
Participle	—	The soldiers, wounded and dying, were left on the field.
Infinitive	—	A plan to end the war was discussed.
