This e-book was transcribed from the Abraham Lincoln Edition of The Fathers of the Constitution by Max Farrand.
The Table of Contents in the book did not break down the 4 great American source documents in the Appendix—but users of the e-book can navigate directly to one of these four documents from the Contents. The documents were produced as typed in the paper book, with the exception of the signers of the document. The book had two signatures per line; we used one signature per line to allow for better formatting across e-book presentations. We transcribed the left column first, from top to bottom, and then the right column in the same manner. No other amendments were intentionally made to these four documents, which are facsimiles of the actual documents as supervised by author and noted constitutional historian Max Farrand.
Obvious errors in the rest of the text have been corrected, and are listed below:
