This shows a portable fireplace (24½ in. wide x 30¼ in. high) set inside of the regular mantel opening. It is made of iron, is lined with fire-brick, and can be taken out and moved away in one piece at any time. The front is copper plated. The back has two dampers leading to the chimney. The fire-pot opening is 20 in. wide at the front and narrower at the back and is fitted with a dumping grate. It is suitable for either coal or 12-in. wood.

We do not include face bricks for inside lining of mantel opening, as none are required.
