FINISHED.
Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me saying, The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it.—Zechariah, iv. 8, 9.

As he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.—II. Corinthians, viii. 6.
He that of greatest works is finisher,
Oft does them by the weakest minister.
Shakspere.
O prophet of glad tidings! finisher
Of utmost hope.
Milton.
Though here you all perfection should not find,
Yet it is all the Eternal will designed;
It is a finished work, and perfect in its kind.
Blackmore.
Hark! the voice of love and mercy
Sounds aloud from Calvary!
See! it rends the rocks asunder,
Shakes the earth and veils the sky!
“It is finished!”
Hear the dying Saviour cry!
“It is finished!”—O what pleasure
Do those charming words afford!
Heavenly blessings without measure
Flow to us from Christ the Lord:
“It is finished!”—
Saints the dying words record.
Finished all the types and shadows
Of the ceremonial law!
Finished all that God had promised;
Death and hell no more shall awe:
“It is finished!”—
Saints from hence their comfort draw.
Happy souls, approach the table,
Taste the soul-reviving food;
Nothing’s half so sweet and pleasant
As the Saviour’s flesh and blood:
“It is finished!”—
Christ has borne the heavy load.
