The Difference Between the Two Cosmogonies as Given in the First Two Chapters of Genesis.

In the first, the earth emerges from the waters and is therefore saturated with moisture. ([Gen. 1 : 9, 10].) In the second, the whole face of the ground requires to be moistened. ([Gen. 2 : 6].)

In the first, the birds and beasts are created before man. ([Gen. 1 : 20, 24, 26].) In the second, man is created before the birds and beasts. ([Gen. 2 : 7, 9].)

In the first, all the “fowls that fly” are made out of the waters. ([Gen. 1 : 20].) In the second, the “fowls of the air” are made out of the ground. ([Gen. 2 : 19].)

In the first, man is made lord of the whole earth. ([Gen. 1 : 28].) In the second, he is merely placed in the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. ([Gen. 2 : 8, 15].)

In the first, man and woman are created together. ([Gen. 1 : 28].) In the second, the beasts and birds are created between the man and woman. ([Gen. 2 : 7, 8, 15, 22].)—Bishop Colenso.
