Werden Gelder, die bisher dem amerikanischen Konsul überwiesen wurden, in Zukunft seinem noch zu bestimmenden Vertreter überwiesen? Ist bekannt, ob die amerikanische Zentrale für Zahlung der Hilfsgelder (Peet, Bibelhaus) bestehen bleibt? Der amerikanische Konsul hat Schwester Rohner den Rest der Hilfsgelder übergeben. In Rakka fallen täglich eine Anzahl Menschen dem Hungertode zum Opfer.

My dear Dr. Mordtmann.
In view of the present situation which brings my work to an end, I have decided, to take advantage of the opportunity given to leave the country and to take a vacation. My wife needs this change even more than I do. She has been most devotedly attached to her work in the hospitals and in divising work for the poor. I am distressed in view of the misery which may come to the poor people in the interior and I am doing what I can to keep the stream of help which we have supplied thus far from dying out altogether.
I cannot leave without sending a word of thankfulness for your never-failing kindness to me in these matters.
