Hon. John Thos. Pelham, D.D.

A.D. 1857

The second son of the lateearl of Chichester, and brother of the present earl; was born in1811, and graduated at Oxford. In 1845, he married adaughter of Thomas William Tatten, Esq., and was appointedchaplain to the queen in 1847. After this he was collatedto the rectory of Bergh Apton, in Norfolk, by the earl ofAbergavenny, which he held till 1852, when he was appointed toChrist Church, Hampstead, and in 1854 he was nominated by thecrown to the rectory of St. Marylebone, Middlesex. Hefulfilled the arduous duties of minister of that populous parishfor three years. He was installed at the Cathedral church,Norwich, on June 26th, 1857, and since then he has ruled thediocese with satisfaction to the great body of the clergy.
