704. A man, Exakestes, seated, clasps the hand of his wife, Metreis, standing before him. She holds a spindle in her left hand. In the right and left corners of the relief are small figures of a boy and girl. The girl holds a casket. In the background of the relief are a stelè surmounted by two cornucopiae, and a candelabrum. Above, two wreaths and the honorary inscription, Ὁ δῆμος Ἐξακέστην Ἀνδροβούλου. Ὁ δῆμος Μητρεῖν Ἑρμίππου, Ἐξακέστου δὲ γυναῖκα. The relief is surmounted by a pediment with acroteria and a rosette.—Perhaps from Smyrna. Townley Coll.
