If this theory had been in practice some hundred years ago, how much further advanced might the world have been, had not neglect and cold indifference thrown its shadow on all scientific pursuits? Then, let us not fall into the folly of our ancestors by standing aloof, each waiting for the other to take the first step in advance, so biased by the prejudice of the times that we unite in the general cry, in place of going forward and judging discriminately for ourselves.
