ERICA cruciformis.

DESCRIPTIO.

Antheræ bicornes, inclusæ. Flores in ramulis brevissimis, terminalibus, plerumque quaterni. Corolla urceolata, lucida, aurantia, ore arctata: laciniis patentibus. Folia quaterna, linearia, patentia, glabra. Caulis fruticosus, pedalis et ultra: ramis numerosis.

DESCRIPTION.

Tips two-horned, and within the blossom. Flowers grow terminal, on very short branches, mostly by fours. Blossom jar-shaped, shining, gold-coloured, and narrowed at the mouth: segments of the border spreading. Leaves by fours, linear, spreading, and smooth. Stem shrubby, a foot or more high: branches numerous.

Native of the Cape of Good Hope.
In bloom from May till August.
