Humbly drag his chariot wheels along:
Laurel wreaths aloft extending,
Nymphs precede the car and sing;
Drum and flute,
Lyre and lute,
To the chaunt their aid harmonious bring.
From the dark recesses of the forest
Started forth the grim ferocious bands!
Ravish’d at the sound of drum and cymbal,
With delight they danced and clapp’d their hands.
