CANTO XXV.
SKIRNIR FULFILS HIS ERRAND.
Respecting the metre of this Canto, see the note.
When Skirnir awoke at the morning light,
(The sunbeams redden the sky)
With friendly mien, all with brass bedight,
The Giant his couch stood by;
Like a Guldbrand pine so tall, so strong;
(The birds on the trees sing sweet)
In his hand he bore an iron pole long,
And Skirnir he came to greet.
