Worthy Dorval! she could only think of two motives for not sleeping in one's own home—a mistress, or a bill of exchange.
"Oh!" said Louise, "all right! I see it ought not to be spoken about!"
"Specially not to M. le Comte, you understand?... The more so that there is no harm in it."
Louise smiled.
"Oh! Madame takes me for an ordinary lady's-maid, I suppose.... Has Madame any other orders for me?"
