[760] In 1423 when the mayor and other judges sat in the city there appeared before them two coroners, 16 constables for the four wards, the constables for the liberties of Holmestrete and Spitelond, with the bailiff of the prior’s liberties in those places, and four men out of each ward possibly for jurymen. In 1424 a tripartite indenture was made by the mayor, aldermen, and commons, with constitutions for the better government of the city, and was ratified at a common assembly in the guild hall.
