Tudor Jugs.
These jugs vary in character, but arealways of some rarity, and range invalue from £10, as a minimum price,upwards. With hall-marked silver mounts,in date from 1530–1600, they are greatlysought after. The West Malling Jug is themost famous specimen that has been soldof recent years.
The description is as follows,—
Fulham delft or stoneware, splashedpurple, orange, green, and othercolours. With silver mounts, havingLondon hall-mark, 1581. Height, 9½in. Strong probability that it isnothing more than an old sack-pot.Sold at Christie's, February, 1903
