How to Change a Dollar

American money is divided into

Cents, which are made of copper.
5 cent pieces, commonly called nickels (made of base metal).
10 cents, commonly called a dime (made of silver).
25 cents, commonly called a quarter (silver).
50 cents, or half a dollar (silver).
100 cents make a dollar, which is sometimes made of paper and sometimes made of silver.
