It is stated in Seneca, mortuo in Syria, C. Cæsare, which can only be said of the latter. Asinius Pollio died in the year 5 A.D. (Hieron. in Euseb. Chron. ad a. MMXX,) and could not at any rate have known Livy’s work complete.
