Green's fragment was described under the name of Newton County (Arkansas) by Smith in 1865. Amer. Jour. Sc. 1865, ser. 2, vol. 40, p. 213. A large mass was obtained by Kunz and reported by him in 1887 to have really fallen in Taney County, Missouri, about thirty years before, and to have been afterwards taken to Newton County, Arkansas. Steinbach, Rittersgrün, and Breitenbach are within five English miles of each other, on the border of Saxony and Bohemia; the siderolites probably fell at the same time. Breithaupt suggests that this was the fall reported to have taken place at Whitsuntide in the year 1164: Buchner (p. 124) suggests a fall which took place between 1540 and 1550.

The meteorites of Llano del Inca and Doña Inez were found in these localities in 1888, and were described by Howell in 1890: "polished sections of the two meteorites are in many cases not distinguishable," and Howell is inclined to think that they belong to a single fall.
