The name is given upon an oval medallion, back of which are grouped the United States flag, pennants, bombs, cannon balls, and an anchor, while in the distance the ship of the Lieutenant is seen. This plate was probably made soon after the War of 1812. Trenchard was born in New Jersey in 1784.
