The Hebrew poet remarks that the rain comes from the clouds, and he has also observed that lightning is followed by rain. It is Yahwe:

Who covereth the heavens with clouds;

Who prepareth for the earth rain;

Who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

—Psalm 147:8.

Who bringeth up vapors from the ends of the earth;

Lightnings for rain he maketh.

—Psalm 135:7.
