In fellowship with man, his task partakes
Wherever Charity’s pure zeal awakes;
How poor soe’er the votive cup, its brim
O’erflows with wine, if poured from love to Him; 575
And He is with us in the humblest deed
That serves mankind, His smile our golden meed!
If strong, this fairest virtue’s earnest claim,
Ah—let not here her cause be urged in vain!
