In Canaan lived a man of righteousness,
Whom the great God in love was pleas’d to bless
With twelve sweet sons, one Joseph called by name.
Whose worthiness we’ll to the world proclaim.
Being endued with blessings from above,
He gained the favour of his father’s love,
