At Carlisle he did leave a band
The town and fort for to command,
From thence to Penrith did proceed,
And then for Kendal march’d with speed:
To Lancaster they came indeed,
Which news put England in great dread;
To Proud-preston and Manchester
They still advanc’d withouten fear,
Being join’d by none of English train,
