"I am not."
Bill stared incredulously.
"But you're in favor of it, anyhow."
"I am not."
He spent a few seconds trying to grasp that.
"You're against it? On the level?" he gasped.
"On the level," she said calmly.
"Then why in blazes didn't you say so?" he cried.
"Because it wasn't the time or the place to say so, Mr. Marshall."
He was rubbing his ear in a puzzled way.
