And standeth not in the way of sinners;

And sitteth not in the seat of scorners. Psa. 1:1.

Hear, O heavens;

Give ear, O earth;

For the Lord hath spoken. Isa. 1:2.

The third form of parallelism is called synthetic (Greek synthesis, a putting together), where one clause is necessary to complete the sense of the other, as in the following examples:

Better is a dinner of herbs where love is,

Than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. Prov. 15:16.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes;

But the Lord pondereth the hearts. Prov. 21:2.
