Le Message. Originally appeared in the Revue des Deux Mondes, 15 February, 1832. In 1842 it entered the fifth edition of the Scènes de la Vie Privée.
Le Colonel Chabert. Originally entitled La Comtesse à Deux Maris. This story first appeared in L’Artiste, February and March, 1832. It reappeared the same year in Salmigundis, a collection of nouvellesby different authors, published by Fournier Jeune, in twelve volumes, and in 1844 entered the third edition of the Scènes de la Vie Parisienne.
