Reflected all surrounding them two-fold;
On every roof there ’rose a tow’ring rod,
Which bore the banner of each minor god;
The charioteers wore helmets, wrought of brass;
And all their faces shone like silver’d glass.
From north to south three leagues of ground were dark,
