Most of the images have been refurbished, which means radically brightened, whitened, and sharpened. Most of the footnotes are renumbered into a single sequence and moved from the ends of pages to the ends of major sections, which are: the Author’s Preface, Part I, Part II, Appendix A, and Appendix B. Footnotes in the section "Notes on the Collotype Plates" are relocated to the end of the relevant Plate description.
Ditto marks are generally deleted, and replaced with repeated text if necessary. Large curly brackets, "{" or "}", used to indicate combination or grouping of information on two or more lines, have been eliminated from this ebook.
