Cast on 72 stitches, or 12 for each pattern.

1st row—Purl 1, (knit 2 together twice,) (make 1, knit 1, 3 times,) make 1, (knit 2 together twice.)

2nd row—Purl 11, knit 1.

TARGET PATTERN.

Cast on 73 stitches, or 6 for each pattern, and 1 over.

1st row—Knit 2, make 1, knit 3 together, make 1, knit 1; at end of row knit 1 plain.

2nd row—Plain.

3rd row—Knit 2 together, * make 1, knit 3, make 1, knit 3 together; repeat from mark at end of row, make 1, knit 2 together.
