5th row—1 chain, miss 1, 1 plain, 4 chain, miss 5, 1 plain, 4 chain, miss 5, 1 plain; turn back.
6th row—1 chain, miss 1, 1 plain, 4 chain, miss 5, 1 plain. Work 6 shepherd’s stitches down the side of vandyke, so as to bring the thread to the 3rd row: this forms 1 vandyke.
