GENTLEMAN’S CUFF.
BRIOCHE KNITTING. [No. 4].

Materials—1 skein each of White and Colored Andalusian Wool; 4 knitting needles, No. 16.

With the colored wool cast on 23 stitches on each of three needles—in all, 69 stitches.

1st round—Colored wool. Make 1, slip 1, knit 2 together. Repeat all round. Then tie on the white wool, turn back, so as to hold the work on the other side, leave the colored wool at the back on the right side, and with the white wool knit off the 3rd pin for the

2nd round—Make 1, slip 1, knit the 2 loops which cross together. Repeat all round. Bring the white wool in front, turn the work again, so as to hold it on the right side, keeping the white wool at the back, the colored being in the front. In commencing a round the wool should be kept tight. Repeat these 2 rounds about 50 times, and cast off.


CHILD’S SHOE.
TRICOT ECOSSAIS. [No. 5].

Materials—1 skein each of Blue and White Andalusian wool; Tricot needle, the stem of which measures No. 14, Bell guage.

Commence at the back of the shoe with blue wool. Make a chain of 28 stitches.
