The Gauntlet—With colored wool and pins No. 13 cast on 57 stitches.
1st row—Pearl knitting. At the beginning of every row slip the 1st stitch.
2nd row—Plain knitting.
3rd row—Black wool. Pearl.
4th row—Slip the 1st stitch; then make 1 and knit 2 together to the end.
5th row—Colored wool. Pearl.
6th row—Plain.
7th row—Pearl.
Now use the black wool and small pins for the next 4 rows.
