Life.] Philip Maria, last duke of Milan of the house of Visconti died in 1448, leaving no issue by either of his wives Beatrix de Tende, (the widow of the famous Facino Cane) and Mary, daughter of the duke of Savoy. His natural daughter Bianca Maria was married to Francis Sforza, who, in her pretended right, succeeded to the duchy and transmitted it to his descendants.
