POM PON DAISY—* Wind once around each spoke with colored yarn. Drop but do not cut. Wind once around each spoke with White Baby Yarn and drop but do not cut. Repeat from * twice. Cut colored yarn 1” long. Cut Baby Yarn 16” long and weave center with it, making a 12-petal flower with 3 colored lps and 3 white lps alternated in each petal. Cut each lp in all petals and rub in hands to fluff into a pom pon. Make 6 and starting at turned-down points, tack across top of Cap.

Baby Set “SO YOUNG”
MATERIALS—Jack Frost Baby Yarn (1 oz. balls):—2-balls White and 4-balls Lt. Blue or Pink. CRAZY DAISY WINDER. Crochet hook size 3. 3-yds. ¼″ ribbon and 30″ narrow baby ribbon. Size—2 to 9 months.
BONNET—Daisy—Following instructions on page [2], Illustration C, wind colored yarn once around each spoke of winder. Cut 14″ long. Then wind once more around each spoke with white yarn and cut 1″ long. Thread 14″ end of colored yarn to a needle and weave center as in Ill. E, making a 12-petal flower with one colored lp (on front) and one White lp (on back) in each petal. Make 13 Daisies for Bonnet, 99 for Jacket and 8 for Bootees.
BLOCK—In colored yarn, sc thru both lps of one petal, * (ch 5, sc in next petal) 3 times, ch 7, sl st in last sc for a corner p. Repeat from * around. End with a sl st in 1st sc, ch 7, sl st in same st, cut 6″ long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back.
2d BLOCK—Repeat to 1st corner. In place of 7-ch p, ch 3, sl st thru 1 lp of the center st of a corner p on 1st Block, ch 3, a sl st back in last sc to complete joining p, (ch 2, sl st in next 5-ch lp on 1st Block, ch 2, sc back in next petal) 3 times, ch 3, sl st thru 1 lp of the center st of next corner p on 1st Block, ch 3, a sl st back in last sc to complete joining p and complete Block as for 1st one. Continue to join Blocks in same way. Join 12 Blocks (2 x 6 rows) into a straight Band (see Chart).
Back Circle—Sc in colored yarn in 1 petal of a Daisy, (ch 5, sc in next petal) 11 times, ch 5, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 2—Ch 3, (5 dc in next lp, 1 dc in sc) repeated around, sl st in 1st 3-ch. ROW 3—(Ch 5, sc in next 2d dc) 36 times. Sl st to center of 1st lp. ROW 4—Join to one long side of Band in this row:—(Ch 5, sc in next lp) 3 times, ch 2, sl st in corner p on Band, ch 2, sc back in next lp on Circle, * (ch 2, sl st in next lp on Band, ch 2, sc back in next lp on Circle) 3 times, (ch 2, sl st in side of next corner p on Band, ch 2, sc back in next lp on Circle) twice. Repeat from * around to other corner of Band. (Ch 5, sc in next lp on Circle) 3 times. Sl st to center of next lp.
Edge—Ch 6, tr in next lp, ch 1, tr in next lp, ch 1, dtr in next half-lp, ch 1, dtr in side of next corner p, ch 1, dc in next lp across end of Band, ch 2, sc in next lp, ch 6, sc in next lp, * ch 6, sc in joining of Blocks, (ch 6, sc in next lp) 3 times, * ch 6, sc in corner p, (ch 6, sc in next lp) 3 times. Repeat from * to * across Band and around to center of end of Band. (Ch 6, sc in next lp) twice, ch 2, dc in next lp, ch 1, dtr in side of next p, ch 1, dtr in next half-lp, (ch 1, tr in next lp) 3 times, ch 1, sl st in 5th st of 1st 6-ch, sc in next 1-ch sp. ROW 2—(Ch 6, sk 2 tr, sc in next 1-ch sp) twice, (ch 6, sc in next 6-ch lp) 6 times, ch 6, dc in corner sc, (ch 6, sc in next lp) repeated across, ch 6, dc in corner sc, (ch 6, sc in next lp) 6 times, ch 6, sk next dc, sc in next 1-ch sp, (ch 6, sk 2 tr, sc in next 1-ch sp) 3 times. Trim—In colored yarn, ch 8, tr in starting st, (ch 8, tr in starting st of this 8-ch) 24 times. Ch 5, turn, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in each 7-ch lp across. Ch 5, sl st in starting st. Fasten off. Sc back in 1st 5-ch in last row, * ch 5, sl st thru 1 lp of 4th ch st from hook for a p, (ch 4, a p) twice, ch 1, sc in center of next shell. Repeat from * across to 5-ch at other end. Lay base of this Trim around front edge of Bonnet, exactly matching lps. Ch 7, 2 dtr thru 1st lp on both pieces, (ch 2, 2 dtr thru next lp on both pieces) repeated to other end, ch 7, sc in corner, (ch 2, 2 sc in next lp) 19 times around neck, ch 2, 7 sc in next 7-ch lp, (sc in 2 dtr, 2 sc, ch 5, sl st in last sc for a p, and 1 sc,—all in next 2-ch sp) repeated across to corner, 7 sc in end 7-ch, sc in sc, (2 sc in next 2-ch, sc in 2 sc) repeated around neck. Fasten off. Block to desired size. Run 1-yd. of ribbon thru beading around front.
