And much his words their pride displease;

Like hungry lions they appear,

Who long a gentle lamb to seize.

The Saviour all their malice knows,

And how his precious life they seek;

But still his lips he will not close,

Because his Father bade him speak.

Nor does his heav’nly patience fail,

Nor does he cease his love to show;

But while they mock, and jeer, and rail,
